Canada Aims to Lift Restrictions on Travel to and from Canada, Starting July 1

Canada is looking to allow the flow of foreign travelers between Canada and other countries starting from 1st July.

With Covid-19 cases stabilizing and lockdown restrictions being lifted across Canada, Canada may open up to welcome international travelers safely.

In order to ensure the health and safety of the Canadian population, all the travelers will be subject to a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine period.

With a flattening of the curve in Canada, the country is aiming to strike an effective balance between travel, immigration, and safety.

Canada health officials hinted at the effectiveness of public health measures which contributed to flattening the epidemic’s curve, saying the country is slowly coming on track to its reopening plan on July 1.

If this trend continues, Canada will start allowing foreign travelers to enter the country borders.

The government has already started to gradually ease out a few restrictions associated with the pandemic. Earlier this week, Hon. Prime Minister hinted at easing border restrictions to allow immediate families Canada's PR holders and citizens to cross the U.S. border.

Additionally, Canada may allow the entry of new confirmation of permanent residence (COPR) holders who got their COPR after March 18.

While the IRCC is also aiming to process study permit applications in a timely manner or fall 2020 semester.

The federal government is also working in collaboration with the provinces and territories to reopen shuttered businesses and to allow Canadians to resume their day-to-day activities following a phased and gradual approach.
