Canada Announced Special Immigration & Visa Measures in Response to COVID-19 Outbreak

In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, Canada has lately announced a variety of special immigration measures that had been implemented well.

In a row of the announcement, one of the latest updates has been issued by the IRCC on 10th April 2020. Amid all the containment measures being handled well, Canada is continuing to accept immigration, electronic travel authorization and study permit applications, hold Express Entry draws, issue ITAs and more for those who fall under certain travel restriction exemptions.

Canada is Still Processing Study Permit Applications

As per the latest update, the IRCC will process study permits for the fall semester, i.e. for students whose study program will start in September and end in December. All the applicants will get an additional 30 days time to submit their biometric data, which makes it a total of 90 days.

Arrival exemptions are offered only to those students whose study permits were issued before the implementation of travel restrictions on March 18, 2020.

Canada is Still Accepting PR Applications

Amid travel restrictions, applicants are allowed to submit their Express Entry profiles and temporary and permanent residence applications. Canada is still holding Express Entry draws to issue ITAs for PR visa.

The IRCC is also flexible with applicants when it comes to obtaining and submitting documentation, especially for those who are affected by disruptions caused due to COVID-19.
