Canada Invited 11,000 Newcomers in the Month of August 2020

Even amidst pandemic, Canada is consistently inviting eligible candidates to meet the country's annual immigration level targets.

For the month of August 2020, the country welcomed total 11,315 new permanent residents, which is less than the number of newcomers welcomed in August 2019.

However, everyone is hopeful about meeting the immigration levels for 2020 as Canada's commitment to immigration is evident through ongoing Provincial Nominee Program and Express Entry draws conducted throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

With Bi-weekly all-program Express Entry draws conducted by the IRCC, the third quarter of 2020 managed to issue a record-breaking number of ITAs for permanent residence to eligible Express Entry candidates.

Moreover, the PNPs were also quite active so far. Provinces like, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta have been consistently holding PNP draws.

Canada is looking to immigration as a key driving force for its economic recovery post-coronavirus. The immigration ministry ensured that immigration will always be an “enduring value” for Canada after the Covid-19.

In fact, the Canadians themselves have a positive outlook towards the idea of immigration.

As per the Association for Canadian Studies survey, nearly 61 % of the participants believe that immigration will eventually help Canada recovery economically in the long-term.

With more than 9 million baby boomers to reach their retirement age by the end of 2030 and a low birth rate, the country need immigrants in different sectors. By 2034, it is expected that immigrants will be responsible for 100% of population growth in Canada.
