The IRCC announced the first Express Entry invitation round of 2020. In this 134th Express Entry draw held on 8th January 2020, a total of 3,400 invitations to apply have been issued by the IRCC for permanent residence in Canada.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score required to be obtained by a candidate to qualify for an ITA in this draw was 473 CRS points and a prior job offer is not mandatory to be eligible to qualify under the Express Entry program.
Latest Express Entry draw has resulted in a comparatively higher number of ITAs as well as a slightly higher CRS score than the Express Entry invitation round, which was held on December 19, 2019.
This rise in the higher minimum cut-off score in this latest draw could be the result of 20 days long gap between two invitation rounds. We have always seen this trend, whenever there is more than two-week gap between two draws, the minimum score rises automatically.
All the high-scoring candidates were invited through a regular Express Entry draw from the pool, which generally takes place every 2 weeks interval.
In this latest draw, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada have applied a tie-break rule of 27 December 2019, at 13:35:09 UTC.
Thus, all those candidates who have scored 473 points or above and have submitted their Express Entry profile into the pool before the said date and time have received their ITAs in this draw.
The IRCC has invited a total of 85,300 Express Entry candidates for Canadian Permanent Residency in 2019 and is targeting to welcome more 85,800 newcomers by the end of 2020 through three federal high-skilled programs under Express Entry.
In fact, the target of the Provincial Nominee Program of Canadais also set to rise up to 67,800 in 2020 and 71,300 in 2021 for PNP Express Entry aligned streams exclusively.
