The Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has updated the processing times tool on March 31, 2022. As per the changes, the updated processing times tool will more accurately show how long it may take to process candidates applications.
Earlier, the service standards were not being updated regularly and showed the processing standards which the IRCC committed under normal circumstances.

Now, the IRCC will weekly update the Permanent Resident (PR) Visa and citizenship services processing times based on data collected from the past six months.

Please note that IRCC has already started updating the processing times for all temporary residence applications every week, utilizing the data from the past 8 or 16 weeks.
How does IRCC calculate the processing times?
The processing times are measured based on how long it took to process 80% of complete applications in the past. An applicant s processing time begins from the day IRCC receives their complete application and ends when the IRCC finalises their application.
If an applicant applies via mail- The processing time starts when their complete application reaches the mailroom.
If an applicant applies online or in-person- The processing time starts when they submit their application.
What is the difference between IRCC s processing times and service standards?
The processing times are defined by how long it took to process most of the final and complete applications in the past.
The service standards are IRCC s commitment to process all the complete applications in a specific period under normal circumstances. They aren t regularly updated, and all programs don t have service standards.
