The immigration minister of Canada, Mr. Ahmed Hussen, has confirmed on Wednesday that the government plans to raise the annual immigration target to 350,000 by 2021. This is 40,000 more to what Canada is accepting this year, i.e. 310,000. The immigration minister revealed this figure, as part of Canada’s updated Multiyear immigration plan. He was answering a question in the parliament.
The liberal government of Canada is known for its soft stand on immigration. In last couple of years, the government has taken several steps to make the Canada immigration and PR process uncomplicated and smooth.
In November last year government announced its multiyear immigration plan (2018-2020), according to which, it will accept nearly one million permanent residents. Government aims to increase annual immigration up to 450,000 mark, however, this will be done gradually, i.e. year on year and not at one go to make the settlement and integration of newcomers smooth and hassle free.
