As per the latest data released by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on 10th August 2020, Canada welcomed approximately 19,200 newcomers in June 2020.
This number is around 8000 more immigrants that were welcomes by Canada in May 2020.
In June, the IRCC welcomed highest number of new permanent residents since the temporary travel came into effect due to Coronavirus pandemic back in March 2020.
The top immigrant source countries for Canada in June included India, China, Philippines, USA, Pakistan and more.
The leading source country in June was still India. Canada welcomes total 6,760 new Indian immigrants in June 2020.
These figures strongly indicate that Canada's immigration is gradually moving towards normalization.
In June, more immigrants were able to overcome challenges like, travel and service disruption, which were imposed due to Covid-19 in comparison to prior months. More immigrants were able to complete their PR landing formalities.
Additionally, resuming all-program Express Entry draws from 8th July came as another respite for applicants under Federal Skilled Worker Program.
The FSW applicants were waiting from a long time since the onset of travel restrictions in Canada, which compelled IRCC to restrict invitation rounds to program-specific draws.
However, the recommencement of all-program Express Entry draws including FSWP candidates along with frequent PNP draws clearly suggests that Canadian government will remain committed towards its immigration level plans for 2020-2022.
