According to a recent public revelation of an IRCC’s internal briefing memo, which was signed on November 24, 2021, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is still evaluating Express Entry 2022 plans and policies. The entire immigration department of Canada is involved in strategizing the plans and patterns of the Express Entry invitations rounds and draws.
As per the memo, Express Entry has over 50 per cent of the total application backlog, and it’ll take a few more months to clear the backlog of all-program EE draws.
The immigration minister, Mr Sean Fraser, the IRCC is working to stabilize EE application processing to reduce the backlog; the Canadian government has recently allocated $85 million.
Federal Express Entry System Invitations Strategy 2022
The IRCC introduced express Entry in January 2015 to replace the old, ‘first come, first serve’ invitation system. Since then, the EE system has managed key economic class immigration programs, including:
· Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
· Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
· Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The IRCC invites top-scoring candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residency under the abovementioned programs. In addition, until 2020, maximum invitations were issued to candidates under Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) programs.
However, due to the global pandemic, the Canadian government had paused FSW draws and issued ITAs under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category. Also, due to the vast PR application backlog, the IRCC has stopped conducting CEC draws since September 2021 and is only inviting candidates who had provincial nominations from any PNP.
The global pandemic not only caused a massive backlog of PR applications for IRCC but has also affected the frequency of all-program Express Entry draws. However, the scenario is expected to improve in the year 2022.
