The Government of Canada invited 250 Federal Skilled Trades Class candidates in a rare Express Entry draw held on August 6, 2020.
Candidates with Comprehensive Ranking Scores of 415 or above are invited to apply for Canadian PR visa in this new Express Entry invitation round.
The FSTP-specific draw was the seventh draw since 2015 where candidates in the Federal Skilled Trades Class were invited exclusively.
This program is open for those foreign nationals who have certificate of qualification from Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority in a skilled trade or a valid job offer of minimum 1 year.
Also, candidates must have minimum 2 years of full-time experience in any a skilled trade in past 5 years.
The Federal Skilled Trades Class is among three economic immigration programs that are managed by Express Entry. Most of the Express Entry draws involve candidates from all immigration classes, while this draw was rare.
Candidates eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program fall under the below mentioned groups of the National Occupational Classification:
Please note, the major NOC groups are subdivided into other occupations and all are skill type B.
With this invitation round within two days time, total number of ITAs issued so far in 2020 via Express Entry has reached up to 61,850.
The previous all-program EE draw was held on 5th August where 3,900 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued to eligible candidates.
Keeping Canada’s high admission targets in mind, the IRCC is holding larger all-program draws, i.e. in a batch of 3900 ITAs.
Unlike all-program EE draws, where candidates are selected from the entire pool, resulting in higher cut-off scores, niche draws like this where Federal Skilled Trades Class candidates are targeted results in comparatively lower cutoff score requirement reason being a smaller pool of candidates is targeted.
Today’s cut-off score of 415 was 61 points lower than the cut-off score in the latest all-program Express Entry draw, which was 476.
The tie-break used by IRCC in the August 6, 2020 draw was June 2, 2020, at 09:35:31 UTC.
This means all Federal Skilled Trades Class candidates who had scored 415 points or above and submitted their Express Entry profile in the pool before the said date and time had received their Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian PR visa.
