In a rare scenario, the IRCC has announced two Express Entry draws on the same day i.e. April 9, 2020, to invite eligible candidates to apply for Canadian PR.
This is an outcome of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada's continuous efforts to meet annual immigration targets 2020-2022, i.e. to welcome 341,000 newcomers by 2020, 351,000 newcomers in 2021, and another 361,000 newcomers in 2022.
Thus, the Canadian Government has issued a total of 606 ITAs to Express Entry Provincial nominee program candidates in a first draw and a total of 3,294 invitations to Canadian Experience Class candidates later in a second draw.
Both the draws were held on 9th April 2020, making the total number of ITAs issued by the Federal Government so far in 2020 via the Express Entry program to 26,500 Invitations.
In these two Express Entry draws held by IRCC within the same day, the IRCC had targeted Express Entry candidates from two different categories, making both program-specific draws.
In the first draw, which took place on 9th April, the IRCC had targeted those candidates who have a provincial nomination certificate.
A total of 606 candidates were invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score requirement of 698 points.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada used December 18, 2020, at 11:29:51 UTC as its tie-break rule.
This clearly indicates that all candidates who have scored 698 or above and had submitted their EE profile before the mentioned date and time have received their ITA in this round of invitation.
In a second draw held within a day, the IRCC had invited a large number of candidates to apply for Canada PR, i.e. 3,294 ITAs in a single draw.
This was also a program-specific draw where invitations were issued exclusively to the Canadian Experience Class candidates with Comprehensive Ranking Scores as low as 464 points.
This is the fourth consecutive program-specific draw and second in less than a months' time, which invited candidates under the Canadian Experience Class.
The tiebreaker rule applied in this second 9th April draw was on January 4, 2020, at 12:16:45 UTC.
This clearly indicates that all the candidates under the Canadian Experience Class who have scored 464 points or above and have entered their EE profile in the pool before the said date and time have received an ITA for Canada PR.
