In continuation to the 19th July announcement, the Canadian government has issued a new travel advisory for travellers to Canada. From September 7, 2021, the country will allow fully vaccinated travellers to enter Canada for non-essential purposes.
The government of Canada has taken a huge step towards easing border measures, considering the current epidemiological situation both within and outside of Canada. In addition, the announcement further strengthens Canada’s take on immigration, making it one of the leading immigration destinations worldwide.
Fully vaccinated foreign nationals – Now eligible to travel to Canada
Beginning at 12:01 am EDT on 7th September, all the vaccinated individuals will be allowed to enter Canada for discretionary purposes, like tourism. To be eligible foreign nations must:
· have receivedthe entire series of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before entering Canada (Canada approved vaccines, include Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson)
· have submitted a result of a valid pre-arrival COVID-19 molecular test taken no more than 72 hours before flight or arrival at the Canadian border crossing
· be asymptomatic
· provide mandatory information through ArriveCAN, like vaccination proof and a quarantine plan
· be admissible to Canada
· take a test upon arriving in Canada, if randomly selected for the border testing surveillance program
Travel exemptions for Indian nationals
Though Canada has temporarily suspended private passenger and direct commercial flights from Indian, however, fully vaccinated Indian passengers can travelto Canada via an indirect route. Before starting their journey to Canada, they must provide a valid pre-departure COVID-19 molecular test result from any third country other than India.
