On 14th April 2021, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Hon. Marco Mendicino announced six new permanent residence pathwaysto Canada. According to the announcement, new pathways have been introduced for those essential workers and international student graduates who are currently living and working in Canada and are capable enough to support the Canadian economy.
The accelerated pathways have been designed with an aim to encourage essential temporary workers and international graduates to settle down in Canada permanently and help the nation retain talented workers and create better employment opportunities.
The IRCC will begin accepting applications from May 6, 2021under special pubic policies under following streams:
• Temporary foreign workers in health care- 20,000 applications
• Temporary foreign workers in selected essential occupations- 30,000 applications
• International graduates- 40,000 applications
The application intake window will remain open until 5th November 2021 or until reaches its intake capacity, i.e., 90,000 applications.
Additional Streams to support Francophonecommunities
In order to support the vitality of Canada’s Francophone minority communities, the IRCC has also introduced 3 additional streams exclusively for French-speaking or bilingual candidates.
For much surprise, there would be no application intake caping for following streams:
· French-speaking international student graduates
· French-speaking essential workers in healthcare
· PR pathway for French-speaking essential workers in other
