The province of Ontario has invited more than 1,000 Express Entry candidates in the latest OINP draw held on May 31. Candidates with work experience in 10 occupations were invited to apply for a provincial nomination via Ontario s Human Capital Priorities Stream.
A total of 1,072 ITAs for a provincial nomination for Canadian PR were issued with Comprehensive Ranking System score ranging between 439 and 469. All the selected candidates got the desired work experience in their respective fields.
In the past, Ontario has targeted only IT occupations and this is the very first time that a specific list of occupations is targeted by OINP.
Under Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, Human Capital Priorities Stream, the province looks for the federal Express Entry pool of candidates who are eligible as per stream’s federal and provincial criteria and send them ITAs for a provincial nomination for Canadian PR Visa.
The candidates who are interested in applying for OINP via Human Capital Priorities Stream or any other Express Entry Stream are supposed to enter the Express Entry pool first.
With this second OINP draw in the year, 2019 via the Human Capital Priorities Stream, the total number of Notifications of Interest (NOI s) issued to Express Entry candidates have reached to 2,565.
With this flexible, occupation-specific draw, OINP has kept its labour market and economic development issues on top by giving priority to employers needs.
As per David Cohen, senior partner with the Campbell, Cohn Canadian immigration law firm in Montreal, “This draw continues the OINP’s innovative use of the Human Capital Priorities Stream to meet the province’s evolving labour needs. Candidates with work experience in these occupations and a desire to live in Ontario may be happy to hear that there is currently a need for their in the province.”
